The funeral services for the late Mr. Derrick Lawson , who departed this life on Saturday, December 9,2023, will be Tuesday, December 19. 11:00 AM at New Mt. Pleasant in Coverdale.
Derrick G. Lawson born July 30, 1979 in Tifton, Georgia- Derrick G Lawson, a humble resident of Ashburn, Georgia, was called home on December 09, 2023. He lived a life marked by love, faith, and dedication.
Derrick G. Lawson better known as Scoop to his family and friends was the cherished child of the late Clarice Jackson and Gary Lawson. He found solace in his faith, embracing salvation and the Holy Ghost. Derrick (Scoop) drew strength from the belief that God had a divine plan and purpose for his life, never doubting that mistakes were never part of his journey.
He served the Lord with unwavering dedication, readily embracing any role assigned to him. His commitment and service were a testament to his devout faith.
In 1999, Derrick graduated from Turner County School, where his passion for football flourished. His passion was working on cars and watching the Georgia Bulldogs and Falcons play.
Derrick warmth spirits, hard working mindset, loving and caring heart left an impact on his family and friends. He leaves behind his beloved kids Mialaysia Z. Lawson, Quevan G. Lawson and Kamille Z. Lawson along with his two grandchildren Mylez Lawson and Ayla Nelson. He will be greatly missed by his dear siblings Kevin (Lisa) Lawson of Atlanta, GA, Garriet Lawson of Ashburn, GA, Octavia Brown of Warner Robins, GA, Wyshieka Floyd of San Diego, CA, Alyssa (Arthur) Love of San Antonio, TX, and Gary Lawson Jr. of Ashburn, GA.
He will be missed by his dear Aunts: Ollie Jackson. Rosemary (Willie) Richey, Tommie Lee King, Inez Thomas, Gloria (John) Lawson, Nathaniel (Devane) Lawson, Margaret Smith and Wanda Lawson. Along with a host of Nieces, Cousins and Friends.
Preceding Derrick in death are his parents, as well as his siblings: Benard Jackson and Geoffrey Burke. Along with his Uncles and Aunts Sarah Harris, Fannie Mae Felton, Geneva Baldwin, Eve Lue Clark, Arthur Lawson, Alton Lawson, and John Fulmore, forever in his heart. Their memories will forever be cherished.
Scoop’s life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, and he will be remembered as a pillar of strength and love. May his soul find eternal rest, and may his loved ones find comfort in the cherished memories they shared.
